Remote access to licensed electronic resources is monitored. Each person is responsible for how his or her Cougar 1Card account is used. If misuse is suspected (e.g., downloading of excessive numbers of files), the account owner may be asked to clarify his or her remote use in order to be able to continue using the University of Houston Libraries' electronic resources. If recorded download levels for a Cougar 1Card account are consistently well in excess of average single-user levels, that account may be suspended indefinitely. A Cougar 1Card account will be suspended immediately if any information regarding that account is discovered on the Internet. Affected users may be given the option to obtain a new Cougar 1Card. Other penalties may apply as outlined in the University policy referred to above.
Providers and the University of Houston Libraries offer these resources on an "as is basis."
